Bratwurst. It is sausage but it is a specially prepared sausage German style.

You can get them at some grocery stores, though here in the USA you cannot get near as good bratwurst as in Germany especially Thurngia in my opinion.

It does not even taste like sausage really, it is so much better than a sausage link for example.

Another could be an original German made Coo Coo Clock.

OR what is really yummy is Germany Chocolate and this really great little alcoholic drink called Kleiner feigling,(Kliner Fighkling in phonetics) it is a vodka based drink but very sweet. I met my last GF over it. In Germany you are allowed at bars at 16 where you cannot go until you are 21 here in the USA but you can get your driver license here at 15-16 and they cannot until 18 and are on probation for 2 years I believe it is.

So there are a few items that are unique to Germany but getting a hold of them, first off being a school thing Id leave the beer and feigling out!,that said then I would consider the chocolate if you can find it on the net or at a specialty shop, then maybe a bier Stein or Lieder Hosen old authentic Bavarian dress.

There is much that is unique to Germany and you can find things in the USA to help you with a presentation about it and enough internet sites to provide you with information.

You could even use the reason why Hitler chose the Swastika!! that may be a touchy subject but it has become synonymous with Nazi and evil when it was originally considered a sign of good luck. That can make an interesting story how a good luck symbol was turned into the most dreaded symbol to be seen today nearly!

Bratwurst you can get at most grocery stores and you can find the history of it online and try to prepare some for class to share with them but remind them it is not quite nearly as good as authentic Thuringen Bratwurst, if you hate Sausage you would not even know it was one they are so good. I love the Bratwurst stands in Thurngia. I travel to Germany, Weimar every year many times for their Zweibal Markt or Onion Market.

Since it is close to Christmas time, do a presentation on German Christmas markets. You could serve some eggnog and "Stollen" along to prove your point.

I have never seen them anywhere else. In Germany you can find them at the Christmas Markets. They are come in all sizes and are decorated with royal icing. There are sayings on it like you are my love etc. Then there is a ribbon attached so the person you give it too can carry it around their neck.

If you have an Aldi in your area they have some German products in their stores right now such as Christmas Stollen, Chocolate ornaments and German Spice cookies.

well a simple german flag, or a teddy bear and write berlin on it. a symbol of berlin.. capital city.

Since we are near Christmas, I would suggest Adventskalender (every day from the 1st of December until the 25th you open up a small "window" on this calendar and you get your daily chocolate / candy, so that the days until Christmas pass happily without too much impatience). Very German / Austrian.

I don't know about things that are used specifically by Germans, but you could do cuckoo clocks. I don't know if that sounds overdone, but they originated in the Black Forest region, and some have really been spectacular works of art.

leder hosen....lol.... mostly food products.. schinken, butter kÃ¤se...... i dunno... or perhaps Lamy pens.. rare outside europe i think.... ugh.. its becoming so americanized here now... i ave no idea if the things here are only here or also in america.. ill tell you after i go to america for summer

"Handy". That's the unique, pseudo-English German word for "cellphone". The Germans find their Handys handy, like you might find your cellphones.

Or try "Winterreifen". That's winter tyres. It seems to be a German hobby to screw them up and down to/from their cars, instead of just keeping them on to it for the cold season. Every weekend, I hear people in their home garages changing tyres, depending on how much snow there is.
