Need help From anyone living in Germany?

My daughter is having a heritage party at school. Each child has to cook something related to their heritage. We are mostly German. We need a simple recipe for a dessert or finger food that is German. However, I don't want to make German chocolate cake. All of the kids have tasted this before and I would like something a little different. Please help. Thank you.
Additional Details
I don't mind getting out the pots and pans and baking or cooking something. Just not too complicated.

Try "rote Grütze". It's a fruit desert made from berries and cherries and the like, eaten alone, or with eather just cream, whipped cream, vanilla sauce or vanilly ice cream. It's a typical summer desert, and it's originally from the north of Germany, though nowadays it is popular everywhere.
Below is a link to a recipe in English:

Good Luck if you try, and have fun!

Here's an authentic recipe from a German friend. It's for a very common German pastry which is easy to make and super yummy!

BUTTERKUCHEN (BUTTER CAKE) IN 25 MINUTES!

MIX TOGETHER
1 CUP OF CREAM
1 CUP OF SUGAR
2 CUPS OF FLOUR
4 EGGS
2 SPOONS OF VANILLA
AND A PINCH OF SALT
BAKE IT ON A COOKIE SHEET AT 160 DEGREES C. (ABOUT 325 OR 350 DEGREES) FOR 18 MINUTES.

THEN YOU TOP IT WITH 150G OF SUGAR AND 200G OF MELTED BUTTER, SLICED ALMONDS ARE OPTIONAL.

PUT IT BACK IN THE OVEN FOR 3 MINUTES AND THAT'S IT!

Kids love it!
Enjoy-

Depends on, where you live: Buy some German Bread, spread butter on it and put sausage on it like Salami or chicken breast or something.

Sausage looking like this:

You can buy German bread in Los Angeles an in Chicago. These both I know for sure. But I'm positive that you find a shop in your area too.

This would be typically German, finger food and easy to prepare.

How about Bratwurst? Typical and simple enough?

Germans don't really eat a lot of chocolate cake, unless you mean the famous AUSTRIAN Sachertorte?

Famous finger food: Haribo gummibärchen and pretzels.

If you want something typically Berlinisch you could easily make Currywurst.

All you need to do is heat up Weißwurst (white sausages like Bratwurst)
Cut up sausages into rings, pour over ketchup and sprinkle with curry powder. easy!

How about "Pommes" ?
So easy to make:
Take a bag of fries, cut them in thirds and: tada! Pommes!
