Can anyone help me by giving me a rough idea of where the following locations are ... and no I dont want someone saying in Germany or on Earth DUH!

Meinzin Germany
Beinstein Wurttemberg Germany
Oberbronn Elsamlothringen Germany

These are older cities so they may not be named properly now. If anyone has the new names that would help also

The third city might be actually in France ... Alsace ... said to have been a town created for "exiled" germans who did not want to be Catholic or Lutheran this is of course a rumor I have not verified

I would like to add the following:

Meinzin Germany could be a misspelling of "Mainz in Germany". Mainz is a big city near Frankfurt am Main.

Elsamlothringen should be spelled "Elsass-Lothringen", which is German for "Alsace-Lorraine". The Alsace used to be part of Germany, but now belongs to France.

As for Beinstein - there is a Beinstein that is now part of the city Waiblingen in the Stuttgart area. It would fit the "Wurttemberg" better than the Beinstein in Bavaria mentioned in the first answer above. Stuttgart was and is the capital of (Baden-)Wurttemberg.

If you are looking for birth, marriage and death records after Jan 1st 1876 in Beinstein, you can email the "Standesamt" (office of birth, marriages and death register) in Waiblingen at standesamt@waiblingen.de - German only. (People here will happily translate for you.)

Also check out http://www.genealogy.net/

Meinzing is in Bavaria, southeast germany , near the border with the Czech Republic. See 1st website map below. Beinstein is in Bavaria, south central Germany...see 2nd site. I could not find the 3rd one, or a name similar.

Hey Shelly,
Oberbronn is located in Alsace, but you are totally wrong the population there was of german origin. They were not exciled Germans.
Read here about history of Alsace:

Do you mean Mainz? That is next to Frankfurt. I have a friend that lives there.

If you ever have a chance try using google earth, you can actually get satellite images of the places from your PC. I have zoomed right in on my former GF's house in Hannover.

The other answers are correct so no need to add to it.
