New Years Eve in Dusseldorf...?

Off to Dusseldorf on a cheap flight for New Years Eve. Haven't booked anything to do for "the bells" yet. Has anyone been before or could give any advice?

Dusseldorf has one of the most elite shopping districts in Germany called Konigsallee(KINGS ALLEY) Many of the shops and stores will even ship your treasures to the states for you. On the Konigsalle there are also many activities going on during the holidays.
If I were to be in Dusseldorf during New Years I would head to Alt Stadt ( the Old City) It is the older part of the city and a lot less expensive than downtown D'dorf. They have parties going on throughout the whole night and you can go from Bar to Bar or Eatery's and join in the fun and festivities. Most Hotels have amazing restaurants with local foods and wines. They usually have dancing also.
Make sure you make your reservations early to insure a spot. If you are traveling alone the bars have alot of young people and most of them speak English so you could even find a date for the evening. The streets are lined with more places than you would have time to go to. Pick one that you feel fits your personality and join in and the people will welcome you if you offer to buy them a beer. Beer is cheap and there is usually dancing. If you want a more elegant evening go along the Rhein River and enjoy a lavish meal on one of the ferry's. There are some that travel along the river during the night and others that are stationary.
I am on my way to D'dorf this week and I will find more information and websites to share when I return on the 28th of Nov.

That's nice. I'm originally from Wuppertal (which is less than half an hour from Duesseldorf). They should have big celebrations everywhere along the rhine. So you're definitely good in Duesseldorf. So have fun and send some greetings to my hometown! ;o)
