Oktoberfest! I need to make 4 tent ticket reservations for opening day, September 22, 2007.?

Are tickets still available? Do you have a suggestion on which tent? I've seen the website, and I have sent emails to the tent addresses provided, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to see which tent still has open spaces on the day we want to go. And, what is the average price of a tent ticket? I couldn't find that! Thanks so much!!!

Hi! I just checked the website for you. In the faqs http://www.oktoberfest.de/de/02/content/faq2/ it says you cannot make reservation through the oktoberfest.de website. In order to make reservation you need to get in touch with the tent-hosts. You'll find their telephone numbers/email addresses here:
http://www.oktoberfest.de/de/03/
And no, unfortunately there is no way to find out online if there are still tickets available. In case you consider calling: 011-49 and then the rest of the phone number without the zero in the preix.
Good luck:)

There are no 'Tickets' to the Oktober Fest Tents. And tents are not like a restaurant where you can call and make a reservation.
To get a table reserved(for 6 to 12 persons depending on the tent) you have to send a fax to the specific brewery tent - their numbers are listed in the Oktober Fest website. Then, if you by some chance get lucky(Do you know the Pope?) and there is a table available for you the next step is you have to go to that brewery office and pay for coupons IN CASH. Each brewery has the coupon thing set up a bit differantly but basically for each person it is 2 coupons for beers, and 1 coupon for dinner. You pay nothing for the table reservation, but for those wonderful coupons you can count on at least 240 Euros for an 8 person table. BUT, you are asking about opening day so I doubt you can get a table reservation. You might try some of the travel firms offering Oktober Fest Tours. Be warned that opening weekend tours may cost more than the ones going during the week.
My suggestion and this is based on years of experience; Get there early! Tent doors open between 9 and 10, if the weather is bad then be prepared for pushing(or worse). Normally unreserved tables are in the middle of the tent so when the doors open that is where the crowds are headed. Tables on the sides and raised platforms are almost always reserved. On the first day beer is not served until 12 noon. So, if you get lucky and get a table be prepared to sit and wait. You may want to bring a deck of cards or some other way to spend the time. Another tip, you might want to bring snacks or a sandwich as very few of the tents serve any kind of food before 12 noon. When the beer is served, tip your waitress/waiter very well on the first round - that will help you get served faster and better when it gets crowded.
Some more tried and true tips; Wear comfortable sturdy foot wear, AND a pair that you do not mind getting beer(or worse) spilled on. If you are of the female sex wear an outfit with cleavage(sexist I know, but it will help you get a seat if it is crowded), and stay away from the Italian Men - they may be charming at first, but after a few beers they can be disgusting.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
P.S. For the one year that I did this 'Procedure' I sent my fax(and emails) request a year in advance.

HI,

if you want to go to the "Anstich", you have to go to Schottenhamel tent. But this will be almost impossible to do on opening day.

You cannot make reservation for 4 persons, you always have to reserve a complete table, which means 10 persons.

The price is always the same: 2 beers and 1/2 broiler per person, consumible. This is around 25 Euro, depending on the tent.

Open spaces at this time of the year, probably don't exist anymore.

If you don't have a reservation, go early, go nicely dressed, don't be drunk before going inside, and you have good chances to get inside a tent.
Early on weekends means before 11 a.m. and during week at around 2 p.m.
