If the lady is 80 now, I would think she might be remembering popular songs from perhaps the 40s, and wartime.

I'd suggest "schlager" by Lale Anderson, which you can download free from the net:
http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/card/0,,3324265,00.html (if you can get into it!)
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Lale+Andersen

Also try Zara Leander:
http://www.musicals101.com/who23.htm (scroll down a bit for her bio)

You can try them on YouTube also.

I think she'd love to hear the popular songs from her dizzy dancing days!

Oh, Marlene Dietrich, too, but the older songs.

It is also possible that she remembers songs from a vocalist group called "the comedian harmonists", songs were called "Veronika, der Lenz ist da", "Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus", "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" and so on. There was a movie made about them, called "Comedian Harmonists", which is very good, and you should be able to find CDs of them on Amazon. If not of the "Comedian Harmonists", try "Max Rabe und das Palastorchester" or just "May Rabe". He is a contemporary artist who sings old songs from the comedian harmonists and is also in contact with the widows from the old comedian harmonists and has quite a few songs that were written by them, but were not published/recorded by them because the group got broken up by the rise of Nazis in Germany (half of them were Jews and emigrated, trying to perform as "Comedian harmonists" in the US, while the non-jewish part of the original group still performed as "the commedian harmonists" in Germany). Anyway, Max Rabe (might also be written with two "a"s, not sure there) sings them now, so you might get lucky with that.

Good Luck anyway!
