Allerheiligen is All Saints Day. It comes of course after All Hallows Eve, which is where the word "Halloween" comes from. It must be more of a Catholic holiday, because Bavaria has a large Catholic community and therefore it's a holiday in Bavaria. Here in Hessen there must not be so many Catholics because it's not a holiday here. Bummer!

It is a catholic holiday. The catholic "Laender" have Allerheiligen on Nov 1st, the lutheran Laender celebrate Reformation Day on Oct 31st.
