My cat Jake owns me

On Thursday, Bavaria has this holiday - Allerheiligen. Is this a religious holiday?

Allerheiligen is All Saints Day. It comes of course after All Hallows Eve, which is where the word "Halloween" comes from. It must be more of a Catholic holiday, because Bavaria has a large Catholic community and therefore it's a holiday in Bavaria. Here in Hessen there must not be so many Catholics because it's not a holiday here. Bummer!

Yes, it is a Catholic holiday.

It is a catholic holiday. The catholic "Laender" have Allerheiligen on Nov 1st, the lutheran Laender celebrate Reformation Day on Oct 31st.

Yes, this is commonly known in the US as All Souls Day (aka the day after Halloween).

Aller = all
Heiligen = souls
