Places to visit in Germany?

Hey everyone! I am planning a trip around Europe and would like to know what are the places that I shouldn't miss about Germany (museums, castles, historic places, natural beauties, etc- anything you can come up to!).

As an extra in case anyone happens to know, a cheap way to travel around Europe (ie. train, plane) I would love to know along with the price ranges.

Thank you!!

Koln - the Kolner Dom

Rothenburg - the city is surrounded by a wall

Baden Baden - the baths

Trier - the Porta Nigra

The Rhein and Mosel Rivers - take a boat tour, visit castles in St. Goar and Bacharach... I recommend starting in Bingen.

You could do a boat tour along the Rhine River, which I hear is so beautiful and romantic. I have yet to do that... I hear the scenery is fantastic and you pass a lot of little towns and castles.

Southern Germany (Bavaria) is also very beautiful to tour. Wonderful castles and Munich is a great city as well. Castles anywhere in Germany are great to see... http://roadstoruins.com/directory.html

Hope that helped a bit!

Heidelberg, home of the largest and most complete castle ruins, Rhein River cruises, 2 mile long walkplatz( outside mall) The museum with the skull of the Heidlberg Man, the beer museum 112 different beers to be served, Heidelberg University, oldest university in Europe, home of the student prince, tghe student prison.

Wiesbaden, Old roman baths, Old city that still uses Roman walls, The casino ( biggest in Germany, tux mandatory) and across the river Mainz, the Guttenberg museum with REAL Guttenberg bibles, the first moveable type presses.

Frieburg in Germany is one of my favorite places. Right by the Black Forrest. Lots of hot pools around - beautiful !

As for travel try http://www.raileurope.co.uk/europeantickets/

http://www.railchoice.co.uk/interrail_global.html

you can book a train ticket in the US for travel in Europe

http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/?culture=GB

if flying then keep an eye daily on prices on this site as they change all the time sometimes flights are free plus taxes..a return trip from Rome to London stanstead "neither airports are in the actual cites 'maybe an hour away" can cost around £40.00 return when booked well in advance ..so plan out what you want to do
