Hiking from Munich to Berlin?

1) I would get out a map of Germany and see what lies on the way from Munich to Berlin:

E.g.
Munich is beautiful, with the Olympic tent, the BMW factory, the Glockenspiel of the Rathaus (city hall) tower, the Englische Gruss of the city hall tower (Angelic Greeting), the Hofbraeuhaus not far from the Rathaus, the Frauenkirche (church) and the many museums and beautiful houses lining the streets. The Olympic area was a field before the 1972 Olympics. A Russian Priest had settled there and had built a small humble wooden Russian church. The Olympic committee wanted him out of there and bulldoze the church to clear the view for the Olympics. The German people defended the Priest and his church and wrote letters and artciles. The Priest and his church were allowed to stay and were one of the attractions at the 1972 Olympics!

* Further Regensburg, a bit off the straight path, Rothenburg near Nuernberg (Nuremberg); further on to Bayreuth, Weimar, Magdeburg, Potsdam and Berlin.

2) Then I would look up facts about these cities on the Internet and make it a real interesting travel tour.
E.g.
* Regensburg is beautiful with many old churches and cloisters, and a castle and the "hall of fame," Walhalla.

* Rothenburg is a medieval city, surrounded by a wall.
Nuernberg is famous for its castle and churches with art work as well as for the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market).

* Bayreuth is known for its Wagner festivals, where Richard Wagner had his great opera performances; the old theater is still there!

* Johann Wolfgang von Goethe lived in Weimar. He was given a big mansion, which now is the Goethe museum. Goethe's about 200 year old scientific research on color and optics is partly still ahead of time and not all of it is understood today, but the results are used and work. He may have known something we do not know. The experiments demonstrated in the Goethe Museum are stunning!

* Magdeburg: gothic Dom (cathedral) with tomb of Otto the Great 936-973 AD).
Potsdam has the Rococo castle of Friedrich the Great! It is beautiful.

* In Berlin you may see the remainders of the wall, the museums holding ancient exhibits from Egypt (Nofretete) and Mesopotamia, and you may scout out the many original bars with their creative decorations. There is the church (Freiheitskirche, Church of Freedom) designed by the famous architect Eiermann, built with glass "bricks" and probably inspiring the Crystal Cathedral in California. Go for a shopping spree with the rest of your money to the Kuhdamm (Cow Road), which is one of the finest and most famous shopping streets in Europe.

Please look up more facts for these cities or other cities on the way, and you will have much material to offer an exciting presentation. You may even want to show some slides or pictures.

Good luck and much success.

Schlaui
hey^^
im from munich....hmm...the "hofbräuhaus","oktoberfest",then the "schloss neuschwanstein"...hmm...of course berlin...and i live in a small village near austria..there are the alps and skiing is very popular..
here i copied some things:::

it's all in german..but i hope you will understand it..=)

Hi,

when you have to write an oral presentation you have structured it already, haven´t you?

It would be a good idea to think about what you want to write. You can do a lot of things in Germany, as well as in every other country, therefore where is your
barycenter?
Decide about what you want to write, depending on your interests.
Maybe you like history? sportactivities or like one recommended motorsport/car manufactories?

Do you want to travel around or stay at one point? Have it to be a possible holiday in a special time-window? Or only possibilities what you could do in germany in general?
Do you want to show the extremes?

That have to be your first decicions to make.

http://germany-tourism.de/index_ENG.htm
That is a page about tourism in germany with some suggestions what to do where.
Closer informations are available at wikipedia.

If you give me some more information i would like to recommend you some nice spots!

good luck.

--------------------------------------...
It is really a pity that you do not even have a clue about what kind of tourist attractions you like to write your assay or do your presentation. Because you always answer to questions in the same way.
It´s hard to help.

Anyway.
Berlin and Munich are great. I prefer Munich. During winter times you can do winter sports in the Alps, the German museum in Munich is fantastic.

During autumn the blackforest and the rivers mosel and rhine are beautiful. Take part in a wine fest or cycle along the river or use one of the boats to get from one part to another. Visit the castles and ruins.
Cologne is situated at the river rhine. The cathedral is famous and there are a lot of other intersting places.

In the northern part visit Bremen or Hamburg. Have a bath in the ocean.

There´s so much to do.
Read the homepage maybe and decide what you like to write about.

SAPPER
Visit the local Schlosses, Gaestehauses, Pubs, Parks, poof Strasse, Night Clubs, restaurants etc etc. Lots to do, meet up with locals and they'll do the rest, just be ready to have an excellent time and get drunk!

I lived in Germany for 2 years. A very popular place is the Nueschwanstein Castle in Fussen. It is that beautiful castle that Walt Disney fashioned his Magic Kingdom castle after. It is in the very southern part of Germany, almost on the Swiss border."Mad KIng Ludwig" built it. Look up more on internet. Also, the Blackforest is very pretty and full of awesome cities and history! Good Luck!

You can visit the car manufacturers Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and VW. Audi is in a town called Ingolstadt and they have the Audi Forum, which is their museum. This is also the city where Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Monster was created. The city's origins date back 1200 years when a clan of celtics settled near the area. Ingolstadt also lays claim to being the birth place of the Bavarian Beer Brewing Purity Laws. The city itself has several breweries still, including Herrn Brau, IngoBrau and Nordbrau. Ingolstadt was fortunate to be located along the Danube River, which allowed it it's growth as a military stronghold, and today many of the military fortifications still remain including the moat and the glacis. Once a compately walled city today it is located next to one of the Major North/South Autobahn Routes, the A9, which runs from Munich to Berlin. Looking at the map, you will find that Ingolstadt is located along the Danube, half way between Munich and Nuremberg.

In Germany is so much to do and so much to see.
Why are you not looking on the web? You can get so much in formations about Germany there.

Berlin and Munich are big cities, and provide a great contrast to former east and west germany

I reckon that you will bite off more than you can chew. I take it that your presentation will take about 20 minutes so if I were you I'd choose one location and talk about that. Naturally - you can do your own research on the web.

Trier is the oldest city in Germany, it was founded by the Romans.

Other important places: Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Pforzheim.

A very important desert there is the apple strudel.

You can find a lot of information at en.wikipedia.org

ARRGH!!!
You can start with the capitol, Berlin. Its in the ex-German democratic republic in the east of Germany. Then you could talk about Hamburg, which is up in the north. It has the biggest container port of Europe. It has five major churches. One has been bombed out during the firestorm 1942 and has been left like that as a reminder to people. The old gothic medieval town hall has been destroyed in order to stop the great fire 1842 but it didn't help, so they built the new one 1896-97. This new town hall has more rooms than the Buckingham palace and Hamburg has more bridges than Venice. Hamburg is very famous for the Reeperbahn, the red light district.

Oktoberfest is one of the biggest events.

There's many old churches to tour.
