Sightseeing around Frankfurt, Germany? |
Next week I am leaving for Germany with my husband on a business trip. We didnt have much notice of the trip so I dont really have an itinerary. We will be staying in Frankfurt and I will be navigating around by myself most of the time. I have heard there isnt a lot to see right in Frankfurt so Im wondering what I definately must see there and also what would be not too far outside of Frankfurt to see also. Thanks for any info! |

I live near Frankfurt (FRA). There is actually a lot to see. I recommend a city tour in English. You will learn about the Jewish history, see the FRA stock exchange, the Dom (Cathedral), etc.
If the weather is bad check out the museums, if the weather is good check out the green area of FRA. For dinner you should go to an Apple Wine pub for drinks and dinner.
For a day trip you can go to Heidelberg, Weinheim, or Schwetzingen (ca. .75 - 1.25 hours by train). This is Spargel (white asparagus) season so you can enjoy the local delicacy. |

Frankfurt is a nice city. Nice big Airport, huge train station, nice botanic garden "Palmengarten", ZOO, shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, Old Opera house, Subway and train connections are great, the river Main, museums district at the south side, old fashion apple vine district with many restaurants and pubs "Sachsenhausen". There is also many clubs disco or Jazz.
I live there more than 25 years.

Hi, I'm from Frankfurt. You can see the Dom (Cathedral) which is from the Middle Age. Also the 'Römer' is nearby. U can make a boat trip along the Main river. A good area for tourists in Frankfurt is Sachsenhausen which is a large district south of the river. Also you can drive to the nearby Taunus mountains which have a beautiful scenery.
