Skinheads in Germany? |

Skin ain't skin, that's what you should know. There are some right-headed, brainless, anti-Jewish racist skins in Germany (and unfortunately most of them are in the eastern states), but there are left-wing "oy skins" too who are anti-capitalist, anti-nationalist, and all in all quite reasonable people. Like Great Britain, we also have some amount of football (soccer) hooliganism among fans who also wear their hair quite short. If Skin meets Skin, or Skin meets Hool, or any scenario of that kind, you better run and leave the beating up to them.
But it's not quite likely that you'll meet any person of that kind here in Germany.
What would I do if I pass a crowd of morons? I don't really know as I haven't met them very often. Maybe I'd choose to ignore them and just walk by, like I did at Leipzig Hauptbahnhof one day, when nazi skins seemed to be on the run. I know it's not the best option, and actually you should oppose, but being one against a crowd of 40 or 50 people is nothing you can win. |

I have lived in Germany for over 3 years and travelled extensively in the country. I have never ever seen a skin head here. You only see them on the news and they are generally having fights with punks.There is generally a lot of unemployment in the eastern parts of the countryside, but nothing to worry about. You will have a good time.
