Easily recognized in Germany as German, or easily recognized as German where you are? I assume that to be the US, but...
OK, well, anyway, I like the Brez'n-idea of the other answerer, though that really is, once more, reducing Germany to southern Bavaria (what people think about when they hear Germany is usually Dirndl-dresses, Brez'n, Alps...).
You could do a Map of Germany, and than instead of writing in the names of the biggest cities, you'd draw a sketch of their "symbol", and if you don't like buildings (The Brandenburg gate and the TV-tower for Berlin, the Theresienkirche for Munich, the Cologne Cathedral for Cologne, the "Römer" for Frankfurt...) you can sketch something else, like... A glass of "Kölsch" (a kind of beer that gets served in 0,2l glasses) for Cologne, a "Currywurst" for Berlin, a "Döner" for Hamburg (where it was actually invented, the way we know it nowadays), a typical glass of "Äppler" for Frankfurt... You don't have to do it for the cities, you could do it for regions, too, like... close to Berlin is the Spreewald, which is famous for their gherkins, for instance. The Rhön, a middle high mountaineous region, is famous for high, windy plateaus, and a special kind of sheep (black face, white everywhere else), there are numerous wine regions that one could sketch out along the rivers Rhine, Mosel, Nahe, Main, Saale-Unstrut...
Why don't you check the tourism-page of Germany? www.cometogermany.com or www.toytwongermany.com should maybe help you out on this one.
Good luck!
