Marzahn is a real cultural melting pot. There is a botanical garden there, but for your stay aferwards think about staying at a hotel in a different area in the centre of the city. We have lived here for the passed 3 years and there is always something going on. This year is the 20 year of the fall of the Berlin wall, so look out for outdoor exhibitions related to it.
There are also great museums - Pergamon to see the Babylon wall, Museum Insel has famous museums and The German Historical Museum is v. interesting. For free entrances go on Thursday evenings from 18:00 - 22:00, as some museums are v. expensive.
You should feel safe nearly all the time, but do be careful of parks like Tiergarten at night. Depending how long you stay, try and organize a monthly or weekly public transport card. This is fairly pricey, but the network of trains and buses is vast.
For places to go at night - around Warschauer strasse, Prenzlauerberg, Kreuzberg for outdoor cafes and Biergartens. For a little nature, Wannsee is perfect.

You should avoid Marzahn, as it's out in the sticks...

No, seriously: Take a week to see most of Berlin, the touristy areas as well as the other ones. Take a boat ride on the river Spree as a starter. The weather should be fine enough to visit one of Berlin's big lakes and go swimming there, and if not, visit some of its great museums or art exhibitions. Buy a week ticket for their public transport (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus and tram) so you don't have to bother with single tickets for every ride; Berlin's public transport is excellent and safe.

But I'm sure your colleagues will tell you what it's worth visiting. Most tourists want to go up the tv tower at Alexanderplatz; I was up there and didn't find it very impressive. Depends on what you like; I loved to stroll the flea and artisans' markets, or have a Döner Kebab in "little Istanbul" (Kreuzberg district).

---
edit:
Depending on your age and your interest in city life, you might consider finding a place to sleep in one of Berlin's youth hostels that are more "center town" for the few more days you plan to stay.

Merhaba Pinar.

Berlin is one of the biggest cities in Germany and it is one of few that lives round the clock. There are a lot of places to see and enjoy.

One must-see location would be Pergamon Museum. The highlight of the museum is the temple which is completely transported from Bergama to Germany, stone by stone.

I will have to object to Alwin E: Kreuzberg area would not be interesting for us Turks to visit in Germany. You would have more fun on Ku'damm rather than walking by İs Bankasi, Marmara Restaurant or Malatya Bakkali in Kreuzberg streets.

Anyway, have fun over there!

I just got back from Berlin. To say the least, I was impressed.
I'm sure the most loved sights and attractions, the best crowd pleasers have been listed above.

However, I'd strongly recommend The Aquadom and Sea Life. Check it out here: http://www.sealifeeurope.com/local/index.php?loc=berlin. Everyone from our group enjoyed it. There's something like a covered market with a strange but nice fountain where unique pictures can be taken.

I'd suggest you ride on Bus 100 or Bus 200. They're a regular service, double-deckers and provide with a perfect view to the sights. The S-Bahn is also very convenient, every train that goes to Alexanderplatz is good.

Well, there is no doubt more to be said but I'm sure the others have interesting suggestions.

P.S. There are some night clubs on/near Alexanderplatz. ;)
P.P.S. Pariser Platz (with the Brandenburger Tor) is the historical nucleus of Berlin and Potsdamer Platz (Sony Center) is the modern, hi-tech center. You are gonna see them .. inevitably (:

Manoj
We just spent a week there. There is a lot to do. You should go to -
- Brandeburg Tor
- Riechstag (german parliament)
- a walk on Uter der Linden
- Gendarmenmarkt (fabulous square with 2 churches and open air coffee shops)
- Berliner Dom (beautiful cathedral)
- the Opera house
- cruise on river Spree
- Nikolai Viartel - older cobblestone neigborhood with shops, restaurants, church
- Alexanderplatz (good restauants, TV Tower, and Nerlin townhall)
- Potsdamer Platz / Sony Center (Sony Center is quite impresive)
- Legoland (if you have small children)
- Tiergarten (like Central Park in NYC)
- the zoo
- Siegeschule (victory column)
- Bundespraesident house (not sure if I spelled this correctly) (house of German president - between victory column and Hauptbahnoff)
- Hauptbahnof (largest train station in Germany - quite impressive, and it has open air restaurants right outside on the riverside)
- Kurfurstendamm (great shopping, restuarant area)
- Checkpoint Charlie (checkpost between east and west berlin)
- Kreuzberg (good ethic food - Thai, Turkish, Indian, Lebanese, ..)
- Oberbaumbrucke --- very pretty bridge between east and west berlin
...

and so much more!

We did not do museums because our daughter is young and would not have liked that - but there are many very nice museums as well.

City center is a must indeed. Beautiful by a sunny day. Plenty of new, glitzy buildings close along the Spree. Plus all the Old structure and historical stuff, including Check Point Charlie of course.

Well I know how to answer the second question.
Go on the tour bus and your bound to find some of the Must see's. Beleninburg gate is also a must see.
