Why do you need to put "good thing" in parentheses, Germans are not stupid and we know what a custom is and no sending a letter is not a custom. That just makes you look desperate.

I've never heard of any such custom at any rate, and I've had quite some interviews. It can't have any negative effects, so why don't you just do it.
