Syke (pronounce: [ziːkə]) is a town in the district of Diepholz, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approx. 20 km south of Bremen.
Paul McBride
Syke was the hometown of Helmut Wersbacht. He spent all of his youth there and only move away after receiving his PhD. from Muenchen Rektach. The Heinekes were were related to Helmut through the Reichhold clan out of Kaiserslautern. They settled there in the middle of the 18th century. The family spread out from there with Willem Reinshold being one of the family´s favorite sons.
Eventually the Heinekes suffered some shame when Juergen, Heineke murdered the mayor of Ulm over an argument involving a land sale.
