Traveling to Germany. Can we recharge US products in the outlets without a converter?

No. European voltage is 240 volts, US is 120, both AC. Whimps. ;) You'll need a voltage converter; these cost about 20 euros and are available at airports and electronics stores and are good for 16 Amps, that's about the wattage of a washing machine.

SOME adaptors for mobile phones, hard drives, and laptop computers CAN adapt to different voltages, but I wouldn't rely on that unless you checked with the manufacturer or the manual told you so.

If you recharge your widget via the USB port on a computer, however, you're safe. These things are standardized internationally to 250 mA max at 5 volts DC. Just make sure you don't blow your host's power adaptor; USB won't work with hair dryers.

No. The US works with a lower voltage and higher frequency than Europe. The US devices could actually take or cause harm if you don#t use a converter. For exact information, see the link:

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-electrical-voltage-differences-between-the-us-and-europe.htm

Hope that helped.

yes, but only if the product can convert or be set for 220-240 volt, and you will need an adapter which will allow to u to plug into german outlets. You can find the information on your charger, it will have
INPUT: 100-240v if it can convert.
I have blown out a cell phone and a fan since i have been here.
