Traveling to Germany with an iguana.?

I will be moving to Germany in August, and here is what i was wondering

1. Can I transport an Iguana to Germany, and if so, what will I have to go through.

2. Are there any laws in Germany prohibiting the ownership of an iguana.

Thanks for your time!

If I translated it correctly, then an iguana is a "Grüner Leguan" in German. Just to make sure that I don't give you the wrong information, would you please crosscheck whether this is the animal we are talking about?
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C3%BCner_Leguan

In that case you might have to face some more complications than you would have to with a cat or a dog... The "Grüner Leguan" is an endangered species and falls under the law of protection of species.
At LEAST you will have to give proof that you bought the iguana legally, that should be the most important point. Otherwise it's possible that your iguana will be taken away at the airport and you won't get it back.
Please call your travelling agency to find someone who can give you a complete answer about which documents you need to ensure that you can really keep your pet.

But there are no laws that prohibit the ownership of an iguana, I am sure about that.

Rena
I couldn't find anything on Iguanas, but here is an article on cats and dogs, gives you some general ideas about the process.

First you need to talk to the Zoll (customs) or the Embassy maybe they can give you better information about if you can and what you need to do.

Also you will need to talk to your airline about shipping an animal. Nowadays many airlines are charging full price. My friend just got charged that for a dog. Then again, not to sure about lizards,

Good luck.
