Travelling to Germany... can I take food into Germany?

I have homemade fudge I made for the people that I am staying with in Germany. Will German customs let me take it into the country?

You can always declare it on your way out after you pick up your baggage. They will take a look at it and let you know. There is 2 lines (one for declaration and one for nothing to declare). I would not suggest it, but you could just walk right through the nothing to declare and you would not get stopped at all.

Ask the custom's agent (before baggage pick up) You can get a head's up on what their intentions will be. You can also go to TSA (although it is American, it will give you a general idea of what to expect).

I am a American citizen living in Germany. It will not be a problem. I would keep it with your carry on, do not declare anything it's none of their business. Every trip I make back to the states I hand carry as many t-bone steaks back with me that will fit in my little soft cooler I carry, usually about 12-15 t-bones. I've put it through airport security x-ray in America and Germany, no problems and I've done it a dozen times, I even have my kids bring them with them when they come to visit, they have hand carried them and also put them in checked luggage.

Hi, I come from Germany. Yes you can bring this into the country.

Alex S
Yes. Shouldn't be a problem if it's it's properly declared and
in your lugage. Don't take it as hand lugage though.
