Travelling to Munich in Germany for a City Break?

We are thinking about traveling to Munich in Germany during the summer months. The thing is that we have a disabled person who can walk short distances but is mainly wheelchair bound. We have traveled before to the States but have hired a car, which we will not be doing this time. Does anyone have any idea's on things that we can do in Munich for people in Wheelchairs? Is the public transport system accessible? and does anybody have any suggestions as to things that we can do over 3 days? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

hello this is no problem atall in a big city like Munich. You can take buses and trains and people normally very helpful and do assist you. I wouldn't hire a car either since you have always the stress with parking lots and so on. You can visit a lot of things in Munich and the best place is to ask direct in the hotel or at the tourist information.

Hi,

the public transport is accessible for wheelchairs almost everywhere.

Here you can get detailed information and maps about the different underground stations and where the lifts are located:
http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home/fahrgastinformation/services/barrier-free/

The buses have this special feature, where the whole bus kind of goes down, so wheelchairs can get in. You just have to tell the conductor to do so.

If you have a hotel in the center of Munich, your distances are very short and you usually can get along without using the public transport.

Also the sidewalks are lowered at every crossing, for easy passing. Not only for disabled persons, but also for baby buggies.

What you want to do in Munich depends on your interests. There are plenty of museums, tourist attractions, beer gardens, parks, castles.... etc. to visit.
