Hi, I have lived in Bremen since 2002. It is a lovely small city. Jokingly, it is called a town with a tram line!. The public transport in Bremen is very good. One can also cycle in Bremen. There are good cycle paths, and the city does not have any hills, except in the north of Bremen (Vegesack, Blumenthal). Bremen has lovely parks, and many trees and greenery.
You will find the people in Bremen are very friendly, and many speak English, because Bremen is also a popular tourist destination.
There are many beautiful old churches and other old buildings. I give you a link to a website for young Bremen people. It is in German, but you could use it to practise a bit of the language while taking a look at the nightlife and other things that Bremen has to offer:

Bremen straddles the Weser River. There is much activity along the waterside, many cafes and the likes. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at what a pretty little city Bremen is. Don´t forget to bring your brolly, as it tends to rain fairly often, although we sometimes have lovely summers.

Hi Luba
I lived in Bremen for more than one year and believe you me i found Bremen among best of the cities in Germany. First of all the people in Bremen (called Bremer) are really nice and friendly. There are a lot of places that you can see in / aroundn bremen. Among those are the Botanica Gardens, The old city called Schnoor, which is near the main city center, the river , the old wind mills, Statue of Roland (if you r lucky and take the Tram no 4, they have even put a Statue in one of the trams). Moreover the good thing about bremen is that two big and famous cities are also near it, i.e Hamburg and Hannover, only about an hour by train. There is also a Space center near the university and you can go there by Tram no 6 from Main station. Do visit hannover and see the old gardens and a nursary or flowers and plants. Furthermore there is a beach near Bremen known as Cuxhafen. I dont know if it is open and if it is a good idea to go there at this time of the year, but you can visit another city called Bremerhafen which near to bremen.

Bremen's sign is made up of four animals, A Hen over a cat, which is over a dog and again this dog is over a Donkey. There is a story behind this and do ask / read about it.

I am pasting a link as well and you can go through this website to get all the detail information.

All in all i would say that you will going to enjoy a lot in Bremen. Have fun....

You are lucky, there is a lot of material about Bremen on the web, and even written in English. As I'm at home one hour to drive from Bremen, I know that the informations are right. They tell you much more than I could do with some dry words:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen
http://www.bremen-tourism.de/english/bremen.cfm
The town is situated in a large plain. There are no rocks or mountains far around. You can find big moors in the vicinity, which were magnets for impressionistic painters a hundred years ago.
In the summertime you will certainly not see any snow. I can't promise you hot, and dry weather for a long time, but you should be prepared for this. Anyhow, there is a wealth of light in Bremen in the early summer. When the sky is clear, the dusk of the evening is changing into dawn at midnight.

I went there once. Its got a yankee airbase or it did then, that was about 1987.From what i remember its cold there ,quite expensive, but it has good nightlife.Hamburg is close by and that has great nightlife and a big amusement park. All my photos of germany have big white dots on them .........snow.
