Voltage Converters, Plug Adapters, Etc... Traveling to Germany next week? |
I am traveling to Germany next week and have some basic questions related to my electronic needs while I am there. I was originally planning to bring my Ipod charger, camera charger, blowdryer, and hair straigtener. I found the insert for my blowdryer online in which it says "do not use with a voltage converter" so that is now out.. I am pretty sure I will not be able to bring my straightener either as one of the precautions says "must be operated at 120V"
That leaves just my Ipod and camera chargers, which I REALLY need (I can probably bum off my cousin on the blowdryer) I checked, and they are both 100-240V. So my question is...is all I need the plug adapters? (no converter necessary?) Do you advise buying here in the US or buying once we get over there? Are they heavy, will they take up alot of luggage space..?
Thanks in advance! |

All you need for your remaining accessories is the plug adapter. they're very small and easily carried. You can get these at many places in the US or here in Europe. they'll be a little cheaper in the US. Try Radioshack, Target, Walmart, luggage stores, Brookstones, ... You want the one with the two round prongs as shown here: http://goeurope.about.com/cs/electricity/l/bl_electricity.htm
I just leave the ones I have attached to the plugs for my laptops, shortwave radio, and camera charger here in Europe. |
