Wow, you have just displayed embarrassing ignorance there! I am almost tempted to ignore your q, but if it is a genuine question, then here is my 2 cents worth:

There WAS history before WW2 believe it or not! The Romans built baths, a town and bridges in Trier and some other places. There is a huge gate called the Porta Negra:

For art and culture, Music from Baroque up until jazz today is unsurpassed. Famous musicians: Beethoven, Schumann, Wagner, Bach etc, etc. Minimal? I would not call Beethoven's nine symphonies minimal.
Some of the world's greatest philosphers, thinkers and scientists hail from Germany eg: Einstein, Goethe, Schiller, Karl Marx etc, etc..
There are also many castles, this is the most famous of thousands:

Italy is famous for wine, but their beer probably tastes like cat urine. my partner has been to Italy countless times for work and he hates the filth and the rude, loud people.Have they sorted out the garbage problem in Naples yet? Have they cleaned up their filthy trains?

There's lots of history and museums, old buildings. There's also roman and renaissance stuff. I mean, check out Dresden, Potsdam (Sanssouci), Leipzig (battle of the nations monument, Napoleon) there are lots of castles and nice surroundings.

I think, like in the town I lived in for three years, Regensburg (Ratisbon), it is the Roman history, the river Danube, and the overall feeling. The food in that part of Bavaria is also delicious, but mind: I LIVED there and was not a tourist, although a stranger to the town.

I think Germany is so fascinating to many tourists because we are 80 million people, living within a comparably small area, having built or rebuilt big cities since world war 2, and have preserved our rural areas, too. And in Germany, you can travel 60, 80 kilometers, and you won't understand the local dialect anymore. No chance. But we all either speak some kind of Hochdeutsch or English.

We have a lot to offer besides of WWII stuf (although I do not disrecommend the concentration camp memorials), but it all depends which region of Germany you plan to travel. Most of all, we have beautiful landscapes that are always worth seeing, from the Baltic Islands to the Alps. We have cities, each of their own character, with the lowest crime rate in Europe, so you can feel safe. We have museums, river cruises (don't get seasick, the Danube is HUGE!), the biggest church organ in the world (down in Passau), we invented the mp3 (YES, we did!), the BMW exhibition in Munich, and many more things you'd like to discover.

The food also is worth discovering, because we have many regional specialties you'll only get in some regions of Germany, but not in others. Try to get a genuine Bavarian "Salzbrezn" anywhere in Berlin: No chance! Try to get it in the White House: No chance! -- When G.W. Bush choked from a Pretzel, I relaxed, as it couldn't have been a Bavarian one.
