Because it is home. :-)
But honestly, compared to the USA social security is much better. Everybody has health insurance, if you can't afford it the government pays for it. There is a national pension system everybody with an employment conctract pays into too. Benefits are set up in such a way that no German needs to sleep under a bridge or go hungry, you might be very poor and have trouble making ends meet but you manage somehow.
On the contrary however the above is why so many Germans are set against immigrants. Germans do not take kindly to people who are seen as "looking for a free-ride", benefiting from a system they or their parents never paid into.
Immigrants who come to Germany have to work their behinds off. Unless they hold a job and pay into the system first they don't get benefits at all. |

´´One thing for shure its not the ocean or womans.´´
that doesnt need to be true
people in germany are honest and direct
for some they seem to be cold but only cause germans do not like superficial friendlyness which only should be polite but not true
if you make friends in germany you can be sure that they are real friends |

Well, I moved here because my husband is German. The healthcare system in Germany is better than in the States. There are also more nature places which are accessible to the public, which is great if you like to hike or walk your dog in the woods. |

It´s also not because of the weather. Maybe jobs, social welfare, good standard of living, North Germany is great for cycling, not a mountain in sight. Lots of shopping in the cities, liquorice, salami, in the south lots of beautiful mountains, forests, natural moor in the north, lots of rivers large enough for transport, well designed and maintained autobahns, in winter the higher areas have snow, oktoberfest, bremer freimarkt, hamburg alster, nürnberg christkindlmarkt, glühwein, lebkuchen (gingerbread), lakes, winter sports, football, beer, wine, castles, berlin, germany is the centre of europe, spas, hiking .... |

I lived ther for 15 years and i lived in America for 13 years, I love the german people fo rtheir honesty, trust, friendship. Jobs are not that great right now, it would be ahrd to find one. Food is really good, if your a beer lover thast another plus. There is a lot of History in every town that no one else, but maybe italy and greece can compare to. Its noce to live there but it is hard at times. Are you thinking bout moving there? |

My main reasons for returning to Germany are these: Good friends; can speak the local vernacular; excellent highways that take me to any place I like with the famous no-speed-limit rule; the food and beer I like here in Bavaria; cheap flights and easy going to anywhere in Europe without worrying about visa and passports; and most of all, it's my home.
There are some disadvantages Germany has, like the rather cold climate, and the snow in winter. I'm not much fond of skiing, and I hate to buy winter tyres for my car every second year. But even these things are something you can get used to. |

I will not differ from the others - Geier55 said it all I think about Germans. Besides the nice people, the scenery is very beautiful, even in urban areas, the infrastructure is solid, the cultural options even in the smallest villages are abundant and the social support despite the changes the last years is something that other european countries can only dream about. Moreover, the cost of life is relatively ok, if you have a medium job - services tend to be rather expensive though. The only thing I personally do not like, is that sometimes they are too extreme with some "law and order issues" they have - but as humans we can never find the golden middle between chaos and zero tolerance, so I guess I would live with that. |

I moved here and the main reason was when you make a friend you have a friend that will stand by you for life and help you with no questions and for the safety of my children....the people are honest and caring and they look out for one another....this is why the crime is not near as big as it is in the states....because the people will not allow for it....the law is just there to kinda back it up....but the people are great and the atmosphere...the only draw back that I have is I dont have much faith in their education system...here kids have to graduate at 15 and go to work for less than minimum wage to learn a job and then they are not even guarantedd a hjob when they are done....isnt this child labor laws of some sort? I personally think this is rediculous....but hey i just live here i dont make the rules.... :-) other than that i am very happy with germany |
