If you can ever get it, send me a copy:
"Welt am Draht" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder
It's no longer available, even in Germany. That was the most ingenious (and first) movie version of the SciFi novel "Simulacron 3". If you think "The 13th floor" was good, "Welt am Draht" will beat it at lengths. It was broadcast on German TV a couple of times, and I had it on tape, but the tape got rotten or stolen or whatever.
I can recommend almost every Film made by Fassbinder. He was a fantastic director; maybe the last real director Germany had. I remember a phrase he uttered in an interview to the magazine "Stern" to a reporter's question:
"Kokain? Ja, glauben Sie, 13 Filme in 7 Jahren macht man mit grünem Tee?"
("Cocaine? Hell, do you think you make 13 movies in 7 years on green tea?") |

" Triumph Of The Will ".....many years ahead of it's time. Although not politically correct to consider. Even though it is in black and white, the effects and use of shadows and lighting was technically 40 years ahead of time. |
