The most impressive one is Auschwiz in Poland.
If you can't go there visit any other Dachau Mauthausen they all are very much worth visiting |

The Dachau memorial (near Munich) sure should be seen, but why should you see one at all? I've answered so many questions about concentration camp memorials in Germany here, I'm sort of getting tired. It sure is impressive to see Dachau or Mauthausen (in Austria), but the memory has faded, and it's a good thing that it did. Visit the Jewish Museum in Berlin, that's impressive enough. |

You could also consider going to the one near Weimar, it is called Buchenwald. I found it was very impressive and informative. Depending on where you are going anyway, though, search for local museums. There are sure to be some, and I have found that to know that part of history about where you are walking around everyday usually strikes home more than, if you could say so, any random former cc's that you just go to for a day and than forget about again, cause "it wasn't here". |

I agree with Alwin - the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the monuments to the Holocaust are amazing.

If I ever decide to go to the States I will make sure to bombard you guys with tons of questions related to sites where Native Indians were slaughtered:) |

There is Bergen-Belsen, really impressive also by the exhibitions they have. Then, if you visit Hamburg (which you should), there is Neuengamme. there even is a bus going to it. That is really to be commended as it is a very pecuiar mood hanging over the camp.
The most important is Auschwitz, but that indeed is in Poland.
But why do you want to see one? Enjoy nowaday Germany, great cultural sites and cities. The old stuff should be remembered but not warmed up again and again. |

In the heart of Europe, Germany has a incredible history to offer.
From Vikings In Travemuende, to Bavarians in the Alps, 1000 year old magnificent cathedrals, 2000 year old Roman buildings, Technological Inventions in fantastic Museums, magnificent art, mind boggling castles - this Country, which has been survived countless wars with Rom, the Huns, France, England, Sweden, Russia, devastating diseases in the middle ages, inquisition and witchcraft always came back better and stronger.
50% of the caucasian USA population has German ancestors and their sweat and ingenuity build our proud country.
I just hope, you will find the time, to see some of the wonders of our civilization and not only its hell. |

There weren't really that many in Germany, most are reconstructions :/
Try Auschwitz, it was one of the biggest and it's pretty interesting, it's awful though, i more or less cried the whole way around. |

Auschwitz and many others. All of them are worthwhile! Trust me. Since my dad is in the Military i lived in Germany for 5 years. But Auschwitz is the best because it was one of the worst and it has a museum and you can check out the bunkers, gas showers, and allot of other things. Also it has old artifacts. I really thought that it was very interesting. |

There aren't any really. There is Sachsenhausen near Berlin, but that is mostly a reconstruction. You should really go further East to find the big ones. |

Answering this for you there are so many to choose from for so many were kept as memorials to the dead and even in the east used ti teach kids events.
There is Dachau, Auschwitz, Buchenwald, the three most well known within Germany, their are others in Poland and such too like Sorbibor.
They are nothing fun to visit but worth it for the history. |
