The best theme parks are the 'Europa Park' near Rust and the 'Heidepark Soltau', in the Lueneburger Heide.

Phantasialand in Brühl is great. It's around 10km south of Cologne, and easy to reach by train. Brühl has its own DB Bahnhof (station) and Phantasialand buses travel every 30 minutes or so from the station during the season. The main attractions are closed from around November to March however.
Check them out.

Theres on in Blackforest called Europa park, and there's one in Cologne called PhantasiaLand
