Do you live in a Nation the requires you to have a Visa to visit Germany? In the US our Passports are enough but some places they want a visa too depending on where you come from.

If you BF is German maybe he can help you? If not you can always ask any German Embassy.

Take it from me-OVER PACK!! I learned my lesson the last summer i went there. Pack for both a blizzard and a sizzling day, the weather there is crazy!! Oh-and be sure not to forget tons of sunscreen and some of your favorite snacks(germany doesnt have oreos=O)
Good luck & have fun on your trip!

If you check this list (http://www.germany.info/relaunch/info/consular_services/visa/tourist.html) you'll find a list of countries which will tell you whether or not you need a visa. Most countries don't require one if you are a) not working or making money and b) staying for less than three months.

No matter where you go, make sure you bring a handbag or secret pocket that's hard for thieves to get into (true of any country where you travel), your own feminine products (unless you're accustomed to the European ones), a small language dictionary (for emergencies), and a good store of common sense.

Have fun!

first of all if you are from the us or canada all you need is a passport with at least 6 month time on it before expirtn. take some jacket along it can get chilly money not very much if you have a credit card this is the best way to go ATM it is cheap and no hassle. at the airport the will ask you why germany ? i am visiting thats it and yes you will need a certificate from your health insurance in case you get ill so the hospital or drs . get paid .

1. Get a passport

2. Save money. A lot of money. If your boyfriend invites you he will pay for a lot of things, but still you need money.

3a. Is your boyfriend German? If you need a visa have him go to the next "Ausländerbehörde" in Germany and have him sign a "Verplichtungserklärung" (declaration of liability). This paper will be send to the German embassy in your country. Apply for a visa at the German embassy at same time and you'll get the visa.

3b. If your boyfriend is not German you need a lot of money and it will be a lot more difficult to apply for the visa. Ask at the German embassy in your country what you need.

4. For your visa the German embassy will want: return flight ticket (or return bus or train ticket), statement of your bank account, letter from your employer or your university if you are a student, health insurance for Germany, proof of family ties to your home country (mother, father, sister, brother,....)

Feel free to email me if you want to know more.
