There are really only two attractions in Wolfsburg. The first is the Autostadt, which is basically a museum of all of Volkswagen's different brands that they own. They also have a building full of classic cars. The Autostadt is very, very cool. A guided tour of the Volkswagen plant is also included with your entrance to the Autostadt.
The other main attraction, even though I never went in it, is the Phaeno, the largest hands-on science museum in Germany.
The reason that there's not a lot to do there is because it was built by the National Socialist government for the VW workers to live in. It has long had a reputation of being rather boring and culture-less. It's very true. You can see that by walking out of the train station.

The Autostadt (Wolfsburg is the Volkswagen town) - and a very good art museum. There is an opera (Staatstheater) in nearby Braunschweig - which also has a pretty nice center. You could also drive to Hannover (app. 90 km) or to the Harz Mountains.
