It's true there aren't many black people here. Germany has never been a popular immigration country for African people. Turkish, Italians, Greeks came here as workers in the 1950's; you can also see Asian people (Thai, Vietnamese); but only very few blacks. The ones I knew were students who came here for some months, then left again.

But even so, Germans vary much in complexion. There's the "typical" (or cliché) "tall, blonde, blue-eyed" as well as the small, dark-haired and brown-eyed (that's me). As well as everything in between.

But pictures tell more than words, so I'm making use of those who were elected to represent us: the German parliament. Click here
http://www.bundestag.de/mdb/alphabet/index.html
and click on the names to see some pictures of "typical" Germans. (After all, they're our representatives, so they MUST be typical...)

Just an American can ask such a question!

It all depens on what chromosomes the parents gave you and so Germans look like every European person. Some have brown hair, others are blonde, and some are redhaired or have black hair. Eyes are blue, green, brown, black and any of these mixtures. Heights are different as well, they're skinny, normal, or thick.

It's true that we don't have many blacks here but as we have a number of people coming from Asia their skins are dark coloured but not black.

Actually we look like the US Americans (except the African blacks) as all white Americans ARE Europeans.
