Germans don t like Hitler nor do they like English else for Scottish and Irish.

German history spans 2000 years. Which one of the several wars in Europe do you mean?

Hitler lead one of the most civilized societies at that moment in history to a barbaric selfdestruction including a genocide among its own people and the destruction of Europe. In other words a nightmare of 12 years within the 20th century.

The British (An odd mingling of questions,btw)?
Intelligent, entertaining, good sportsmen (not including football, haha)
Known for the most anti-European attitudes of all EU member states.

The period from 1900-nowadays is handled pretty intensely during 2 school years, with a lot of background knowledge about the events that lead up to WWI, the Weimarer republic, the rise of nazism, WWII, occupied Germany, divided Germany and Reunification. Especially hearing that from a teacher who experienced WWII as a little child makes a good history lesson.

I love the British because they have some sort of humor we Germans don't have. And, the two wars? I mean, it's the first war when the French defeated us (and I was born afterwards and while I was on a students exchange ate frog parts there which were delicious but not really nourishing) and all I know about Britain is Walkers' crisps salt&vinegar which are delicious but much too expensive in Germany just like they'd row them across the channel under attack instead of just flying them in. We changed a lot since the two world wars. What used to be enemy radar is now "Speedbird xx heavy, this is Frankfurt airport, come in please, you're clear and close to runway 23R and flightdown, confirm."

German education is probably, like many European academic systems, the best in the world. The past is the past for Germans, most people don't dwell about it and get on with life. If you go to Germany, most people will talk very low of their countries history in the world wars, but it's not like you are going to see a bunch of history freaks who just depress over the past walking like zombies on the streets of Berlin. They are normal people with various oppinions, all Germans aren't the same just as all Americans aren't the same in their oppions.

Most (probably all) Germans including Austrians dislike Hitler because it associates them to their past that was ruled with autocracy and genocide. Germans try to find a new identity because the common world stereotype for Germans tends to lean "Nazi". Today German is one of the most liberal and democratic nations in the world and a leading memeber of the European Union. They are free and people from anywhere are free to go their. Numerous ethnic and religious groups including Jews and Muslims live in the major cities like Frankfurt and Berlin.

In general Germans don't really hold any grudge against the British. They see the British as friends and brothers not enemies like years ago. You have got to realize it has been far over half a century since WW2, things have changed ALOT, if you think the US has changed in 60 some years look at Germany.

We feel sorry for what happened, but not everyone of our family really wanted to do what they said and they just did that because they didn't want to get killed and they were scared of what they would do with their children.my grandmother was in the hitlers youth, cause they told her to get in and she said that she never wanted that and her parents thought the same. its horrible what happened. nobody cares about what happened to our families, my grandfather had almost nothing to eat and he didn't want the war! we don't really talk in history at school much about it, thats sad.... and almost everybody knows what they did was wrong! its true that there are still some nazis over here but there are a lot of racists (nazis) in the USA, too! I think, its time to forgive Germany for that, cause most of the people who did that, died already and we feel for the jewish community and many classes go to the KZÂ´s to understand the past and learn that it was more than just wrong.........almost every german who gets there starts to cry.....

The germans now have a variety of views. the older generation still remembers and some still like hitler. While the younger generation seems to either feel sad about the jews, or doesnt really care.

Oh yeah, Germans wake up everyday and discuss hitler and the last two wars . . . Not!

You need to tap into the Neo-Nazi movement and maybe you would get the answer that you want.

Germans love Hitler and what he did, hes their fuhrer. Most Germans Ive spoken to say they honor Hitler, and admire him and call him a genius. Germans love the fact that Hitler systematically murdered and tortured 12 million "subhuman beings" (jews, gypsies, homosexuals, slavs and handicaps) they love the fact that they have more living space for Germans only and not Jews in their country trying to take over. Germans are the most racist people on earth that is why they love Hitler, and they love the fact that they created 2 Word Wars which made Europe the deathbed for over 90,000,000 people in total, most of which were women and children and civilians. Germans will always follow their leader Adolf Hitler, thats why the suicide rate in Germany is so high, not because of the cold weather,
