I lived in Germany 3 year when I was in the army. Germans for the most part love Americans, especially the young germans. They take english in school and like to practice their english on us. Plus they like sharing their culture with us. |

I was in Germany for 6 years when I was in the Army, I traveled all over Germany by train. And I found for the most part, The German people are very friendly to Americans. It is a great place to spend time. Most of the young people speak good English and are very helpful if you ask. Most of the older people speak a little English, And are very open to Americans. I have been ask to dinner many times from people I have met. And if you go to some of the guest house (bars) You can have a great time and eat well too. |

I think they wish they were Americans too, because the US is still the place of dreams for them. As one commentator once said: "Many Germans think that the US is the land of cowboys, Hollywood and rich uncles". Personally, I don't blame them. Germany is very crowded (large population and small land mass) and most popular culture, movies, music, fashion, technology and so on comes from the US. |

this is what they think with their propaganda http://www.datejesus.com/american-liberators.jpg
look, Germans try to convince themselves that Americans are racist, fat, stupid, and disrespectful.
but last time I checked, USA has an African-American president, USA won more medals than Germany in the Olympics, USA has better universities like Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton, etc, and Americans are only disrespectful to Germans that come here thinking they are master aryan-races with their blue eyes and blonde hair. |
