What do people in Germany learn/think about the World Wars?

I learned a lot of jsutice of winners and the fact that Americans since there existence have no balls at all. World War I - the Americans stepped in due to Lusitania because they said it was a passenger vessel. However recently some guns were found on the wrack of Lusitania and it was made proof that Germans were correct when they claimed it. Also it is a miracle that one torpedo could sink the Lusitania. Next example was Pearl Harbor. How come that a lot of ships where somewhere else when the evil Japanese attacked. Don't wanna know about all the othere reason that warmongers used to tease and surpress others.

As answerer 2 said, WW1 could have been avoided. I had a look recently at it and wow, the politics for the first one was v. complicated and people swapped sides a lot.
WW2 was more clear-cut and German kids are definitely taught that Nazis were the bad guys.

Wars in Europe are a very complicated question. WWII would not have taken place without WWI and WWI not with out 70/71 and .... Now we start to become one nation and the s*h*i*t is over. AND EUROPE WILL HAVE A SPLENDED FUTURE!

Learn And Teach

When it comes to WW2, most people in Germany have accepted the fact that this was Nazi Germany's fault alone.

There is controversy about WW1 though. Technically, Austria started the war, but Germany didn't do anything to stop them from doing so. They even encouraged them by promising to provide assistance. A diplomatic solution to the problems on the balkan peninsula would have been possible but neither Austria nor Germany were really interested in it. Neither England nor France nor Russia intervened until it was too late, so they are partially considered guilty of the war as well. In school we usually called it a draw with no country to blame but blaming the poor diplomatic exchange between the nations.

My personal thoughts on WW1 and WW2 are these:

WW1 was a war that could and should have been avoided. WW2 however was a war, that the allies (not the Axis!) had to fight once it came up, and I thank them on my knees for doing so. So yes, about WW2 I do believe that the Nazis (not the people as a whole, there was resistance and most people in Germany weren't even true believers) were wrong and the allies were right.

the people who lived during WW2 are dead most of them anyways!
the new generation...doesnt live through those times fortunately
in germany we go to school...into the history lesson and they taught us simply normal! there isnt much to say!
but if we travel to another country they always tell us that w should avoid to speak german because the natives will insult us with words like "NAZI", "Are you proud of hitler?"
stuff like that! one time in france we sang the german anthem
(Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit fÃ¼r das deutsche Vaterland......) because the fish we found or caught xD was dead. ( we were young)

Of course, most Germans think that we (the Germans, in case you haven't noticed that I'm German) were wrong, but there are still a couple of Nazis left (younger and also older ones) who think that we were right. These idiots. Whatsoever, at school, nobody says: "These were right and those were wrong" because everyone is supposed to get his/her own opinion on the topic. But basically, everyone knows that Germany was the one who caused all the trouble and that this was a huge "mistake" (though, the word mistake is an understatement).
