binai, as a northerner I obviously have to disagree with you :)
All over Germany, tourists are a normal part of every place of interest. We are used to tourists. Most Germans speak English and will be glad to talk to you in English if they can; in other languages it might be harder.
Sometimes, Germans seem somewhat incommunicative. This might be due to language problems, a feeling of uncertainty, or to the general temper of the person. Yes, northerners are less communicative than the people from the Rhine area or Bavaria. We need a little bit longer to thaw. Or we simply don't want to talk nonsense if we can avoid it :)
Visit Germany and check us out yourself. Cheers. |

well I am german too and I am making ayearas an exchange student at the moment in the US. I can tell you not only we name and the language is different, also the people. we germans are not bad, but we are a little different from you guys, but if you are willing to adjust a little bit probably that would help you a lot and you can have a lot of fun over there. the germans are used to tourists, because nearly all europeans like to travel, the most people are willing to help you if you have an question when you ask nice, of course sometimes you might think about a few they are close minded, but you will see that is not true if you get them better to know. also when you ask someone speak slowly and clearly, because although the most germans had english and school we are still struggling with understanding. for more questions feel free to contact me |

Well. While I am a German citizen, I have never lived( for more than 8 weeks in Germany) but I have found the Northerners to be arrogant, while the Bavarians are a bit more down to earth. Regarding tourists, everyone is different. sometimes they think that you are just loud and obnoxious (especially if you're American or British) and sometimes they dont really care. It depends more on the person. |

If you behave yourself, German People are mostly very friendly with there tourists. The people in the south are more people friendly then the one up north more distant you got to get to know them first. Happy Travel |
