fly or bug

If it's got a capital F, it's a fly (the insect). If the f is lower case, it's a form of the verb "fliegen", i.e. to fly.

Well, all of the answers are correct. Fliege, is mostly used, applied to the fly, a pest. Ich fliege - would be I fly, as in the verb to fly. What was missed so far is also the tie, the Fliege is a bow-tie. It also the name of a popular minister here in Germany. So, pick your choice of which Fliege you meant.
Regards from Deutschland...

HundFrau
fly (as in the bug)

wanderinghistorian
Fliege with capital F is a noun = Fly (the bug)

lower case fliege ought to have had ich in front of it meaning "I fly." It is the present first person singular conjugation of fliegen, to fly.

It depends on what you are referring to as in "fliege"
"Die Fliege" meaning "The Fly" as in insekt
or "Ich fliege" referring to "I Fly"
Hope this helps, i am German living in the U.S if you have any more Questions feel free to ask :)

Does "ich liebe dich" really mean I love you? It sounds awful; I'm sorry my German friends.

Big K
It is a German expression: "to kill two birds with one stone (hit two flies with one swat)"
