eeliko and bluebyou got nice translations for it. I would say "keep cool" and "take it easy" are close to it since you can't translate idioms word by word |
|

eelliko
|
It means sth. like : "Hold your horses" or "Keep your cool" etc.It can also mean "Slow down." |
|

bluebyou
 |
"Take is easy" |

Most Germans don't know the second part of the proverb, so I'll tell you:
Immer mit der Ruhe
fährt man in die Schuhe.
That means, if someone alarms you, you shouldn't jump up and run, but first consider the situation before you jump into your boots and arm your gun. Most situations turn out to be harmless ones once you had a closer look at them.
"Keep cool" or "stay calm" are the best translations I can find. |

Here is a direct translation:
immer - always
mit - with ( mit requires dative change of the artikel die)
der Ruhe - the peace, quiet, ruhig - relaxed/quiet. |
