What does the A/M stand for in Frankfort A/M?

Show all answers

berliner
am Main, on the river (called) Main; it is also important because there is another (much smaller) town called Frankfurt in Germany (Frankfurt/ Oder)

Paris Hilton
Well sometimes it can seem a little silly-- there is the giant international transportation and financial hub of germany....FRANKFORT (A/M)Kind of like Chicago--- and then this little Frankfort between Berlin and the Polish border (I have never met anyone who lived or even visited there)---for example there is Paris, France and Paris,Texas...I don't know why they still do that...

pickle015
It stands for "am Main", which means "on the River Main".

Frankfurt is on the Main River, so that became part of its official name.
