'Neujahr' is German for New Year's Day.
'Silvester' is the German word for New Year's Eve.

Hi,I'm from Germany!! In Germany it's called "Neujahr" ! New Years eve is called "Silvester". It's called Silvester because of the Pope Silvester († 31. Dezember 335)! Do you want to know something else about Germany? Ask me!
