Dear Jennifer I don't want to be rude but this has absolutely nothing to do with traveling. You might ask that in the food section to get a better answer. But I would like to recommend Lindt chocolate and I saw it at Wal Mart on my last trip to Hanover.

Milka and Ritter Sport are good German brands as other have said already.

To my opinion Swiss and also Belgium made chocolate is even better than German one but that is a question of personal preferences.

My cat Jake owns me
Do you live near a Cost Plus store? They have a find assortment of German chocolate i.e. Ritter Sport and Milka.

Definitely Ritter Sport or Milka - though I'd no idea where you'd get them in the US...

My advice: slip across the border into Belgium which has THE best chocolate in the world (the Swiss can't hold a candle to it!).
The "run of the mill" chocolate available in supermarket chains like Del Haize is better than 90 percent of the chocolate you'll find almost anywhere, except -- possibly -- at a dedicated "artisanal" maker.
Pierre Marcolini is the creme de la creme. Yet there are many, many other fine "chocolatiers" across the country.

Seriously: They have better chocolate in Switzerland.

Some stores even have it sitting in their international aisles. Majer or Maijer or however it is spelled, for instance.
The best German brands are Milka, Ritter Sport, Fassbender & Rausch.
Try googling "German Deli" or "international sweets". There are a couple of online stores that have them.

Happy munchin'!

I would suggest you google fair trade chocolate, its the only product that isn't made using child slave labour in Africa. Look up "chocolate child slavery" on google to see why you need to buy from fair trade companies
