Hostels provide accommodation where guests can rent a bed, sometimes a bunk bed in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available. Hostels are generally cheaper for both the operator and the occupant; many hostels employ their long-term residents as desk clerks or housekeeping staff in exchange for free accommodation. |

its like a hotel without the privacy. Usually its a cheaper way to stay in a city overnight. you get a dorm sized bunk bed with 2, 4 or even up to 19 other roomates. you might get a locker to use but you need your own lock, there might be a hall bathroom/showers like a college dorm. its not a place you would hang out, only sleep really. some provide a light breakfast in the morning. |
