What is a hostel?

Hostels provide accommodation where guests can rent a bed, sometimes a bunk bed in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available. Hostels are generally cheaper for both the operator and the occupant; many hostels employ their long-term residents as desk clerks or housekeeping staff in exchange for free accommodation.

Also called youth hostel. an inexpensive, supervised lodging place for young people on bicycle trips, hikes, etc.

its like a hotel without the privacy. Usually its a cheaper way to stay in a city overnight. you get a dorm sized bunk bed with 2, 4 or even up to 19 other roomates. you might get a locker to use but you need your own lock, there might be a hall bathroom/showers like a college dorm. its not a place you would hang out, only sleep really. some provide a light breakfast in the morning.

I think its a place where you can overnight for not too
much money, but there are other people sharing a room with you!
When we went on our class trip we stayed in a hostel!
