What is going on with?? |
Thor Steinar clothing label?? I was reading & there were people who got in trouble for wearing this, why? I know it has to do with the Nazi's..... But just woundering why someone would get in trouble for wearing it. You are not allowed to wear what you want?? Do you have freedom of speech? I'm sorry to sound ignorant. I just don't know how it works there & I would like to educate myself.
Thank you |

To all that has already been correctly said: There are two laws in Germany that are unique within the Western world, and that's that you'll be punished for
- showing Nazi symbols or performing the Hitler salute in public, and
- denying the holocaust.
We have freedom of speech, and you can also wear Thor Steinar clothing in public, whenever and wherever you like. But you shouldn't go to neo-Nazi demonstrations wearing it, as you'll be the first to be arrested then.
As to Thor Steinar shirts, they may be punishable according to §86 German penal code; if you know some German and like Legalese, just read it:

Legally you are allowed to wear it, but the label is highly provocative and suggestive.
Thor Steinar marks the people who wear it as racist, anti-democracy and ant-freedom. Wearing it is a political statement, similar to wearing the white Ku-Klux-Clan hood on a demonstration in the South of the USA.
It is easy to understand how wearing the white Clan mask could lead to arrest, so why should the people wearing Thor Steinar be given more freedom? |

Any nazi emblems are forbidden in Germany . The reason is the genocide of the jewish people back then . I think that is good because it shows respect to the victims and it shows that Germany learned from it's mistakes . |

I'm not quite sure about that brand. Last I heard
there's something related to Neo Nazis. If it's not
displaying Nazi symbols (which is unlikely) it's
not a general problem to wear it. But you might
be frowned upon.
In general: The display of Nazi symbols is not
allowed in any other than a historic documentary
context which does, for obvious reasons, not apply
to clothes. |
