Well I just got here in May so I'm no expert. I live in a little village and it is the picture perfect German scene. It's like a fairytale. The people are sweet and clean and the surroundings are gorgeous. Rolling hills, buffalo, horses, sheep etc... In the cities it can be a bit different (has been for me anyways) but it is still delightful. I love it. There is a lot of history and a prime location for traveling. I've already been to France too. And to a castle, and a few fests. The fests...are awesome! Friendly faces, music, German food is fantastic (not the most healthy) but sooooo tasty! I love the beer too. Nightlife is fun...I feel safer here than I ever did in the states. They are more straight forward and less inhibited than Americans in my opinion which can be a good thing ya know? I get along just fine here. So there's my point of view, as an American who has only lived here a few months. |

I'm American, and after studying German in school, I moved to Germany. I mastered the German language and now study Psychology at a German university.
Germany is really great. Like every country, it has its ups and downs, but I'd say I'm really happy here. I live in a really old apartment building (the building itself is older than the USA, and the streets where I live are brick or cobblestone. It's simply beautiful. Because I live in a small city, everything I need is a short walk away. A night on the town is so easy, and all the nightclubs and bars are open much later than in the US.
One of the most fun times (in my opinion) to be in Germany is during the World Cup or the Euro championships. Everybody just gets so pumped up and you can feel the excitement in the air.
Shopping is simply spectacular. All the fashions hit Europe first. They usually start in France or England and then spread South and East and usually hit the states up to a year later.
One bad thing: You have to buy new shoes all the time. The cobblestones devour the soles of your shoes. And it rains a lot. But when the weather is beautiful, it is fantastic.
I'm not sure what else you'd like to hear, but I'd be glad to share. |

I have never lived in Germany, but I visit the country ALL the time, and I have German friends. I have noticed that its very expensive, most stores close at 8. germany is a strict country, but its great, from germany you can travel to other E.U countries for dirt cheap.
Clothing is very expensive(that's why the Europeans come to America to shop), but European travel is really cheap(visit ryanair.com).
I hope this helps! and let me know if you need more details/information. |
