What is the average household income in Munich, Germany?

What is the average household income in Germany? Around Munich? How does it compare to the USA?

I might be receiving a job offer, and I need to be able to gauge the offer (probably in Euros) to work I might get in the USA. It's a lot about standard of living, not just money.

For example, I live in a 2000+ sq.ft. house with fenced in back yard now, and I have three large dogs (that will go with me) so I would have to figure out how to live comfortably... We have two fairly new cars, a couple motorcycles, broadband internet… It would be considered “upper middle-class” in the SouthWestern United States, it’s hard for me to invision a big fenced in yard and 3-bed, 2-bath home around Munich without making a lot of money… Am I wrong?

It was the highest in Germany in 2005, at 17,148 Euro per person. The German average is 11,678 Euro.

You should look at commuting from Unterhaching or even as far away as Landshut, you can still find quite reasonable houses and prices if you are prepared to do up an old house.

To keep up your standard of living you will need a nice paycheck, in Euro's of course.
To find the same house with a yard like you have in America will not be easy in Munich. In the surrounding small towns maybe, but even then most Germans do not have yards like you do in America.
Do you want to buy a house or rent? House prices are very high when compared to the US, and in Germany the yard size is calculated in square meters, NOT Square acres.
Then 2 cars, gas is 3 times the price it is in the US. 3 dogs, in that case you are sort of lucky because Germans love their pets.
I could go on with other examples comparing the standard of living, but to answer your question; Yes, you need to make a lot of money to live in Munich the same way you do in America.
A ballpark guess on a monthly income for you to live in Munich with your Standard of Living would be 4 thousand Euros, and that is after taxes. I will not even go into that mess. But, just so you know; Next year the German VAT(Value Added Tax) for goods and services will be going up to 19 percent.
Good Luck with your offer.
P.S. Does this job offer have anything to do with the US Militray? Americans who work for the US Military may be living in Germany, but they have access to whole another world.

i only can tell you it is really expansive to live in munich. my sister lived there for 3 years but it's really really nice and i cant wait to go back there to visit again. i love germany. and dont forget you got always a little bit less euros than you would have in dollars. and yes you would need to make a lot of money to live like that in munich but why dont you live in a little town near munich. its cheaper for you... hope i could a help you a little bit.
