What is the cheapest place to rent a car at Munich? |
I'll need a simple car (compact, but not ultra-compact) in Munich, preferably to be picked up and returned at the international airport. Rental time - around 15 days.
Thanks!! Additional Details I couldn't get that 170 Euros price anywhere.
Currently, the cheapest I can find is around US$500 or 370 Euros on opodo.co.uk or easy terra.
I'd really like to find something for around $300-400 - is that possible? |

Hello,
I am in Germany now. I will try to help you.
Munich is very expensive and so I have found the best...
It all depends on the car.... but look at these web sites....
http://www.autoeurope.de/index.cfm?aff=googlede&pucode=DE&c=3548&gclid=CKnNwKTvs4wCFQJUZQod1wL_RA
On that site I did a quick look for your requirements and it would cost about 330€ inclusive.

Here's a list of various rental places in Germany:
http://www.bensbauernhof.com/tripplanninglinks.html
(scroll down-- car rentals are the third thing listed)
Also, consider picking the car up in the city rather than the airport. There are extra taxes on rentals at the airport which *really* add up. From the airport, you can take the S-Bahn (commuter train) very easily to the city center & get your car there. Take either the S1 or S8 line-- there's a station right there in the airport.
(FYI-- I just ran a comparison on Nova -for a 15 day trip in Sep, compact car: rental at airport=588 euro; rental in downtown = 483 euro....) |

Europcar has good prices. Also they make some specials. You can look also on the Web. www.europcar.de/com |

You might want to try the Sixt website
http://www.sixt.de (I didn't find an English version, but you might be luckier).
One warning though: if you rent at the airport (independent of the rental company) make sure they don't charge you a 15% add-on onto the usual fee. They usually do this.
So it might be cheaper to take the public transport to the city and rent from a station there (not at central station, because the same add-on fee applies).
You can always give back the car at the airport if if you didn't pick it up there.
