Hello,
I live in Germany...
One moment...I will find the best way for you!
Ok I looked on the German railsite for you. I checked in about 6 days tine- as I dont know when you are planning to travel.
Hamburg Hbf Sa, 26.05.07 ab 12:43 11a/b
Berlin Hbf (tief) Sa, 26.05.07 an 14:43 2
This will cost 50€ and take 2 hours. With fast trains...
The same journey without the fast trains....and will take more time is the:
Hamburg Hbf Sa, 26.05.07 ab 12:20 6b
Schwerin Hbf Sa, 26.05.07 an 13:37 2
Schwerin Hbf Sa, 26.05.07 ab 14:14 3
Berlin Hbf (tief) Sa, 26.05.07 an 16:36 1
This will cost 33€ and takes 4hrs 16mins. It is a weekend ticket but is valid on one day over the weekend!
***
There is another option with car sharing....This is where people who are driving from one destination to another advertise they have room in the car - you can call them and agree on how much money to pay to go with. This could be the cheapest way and I would be happy to help you - but I need to know when you are planning to go!
hope this helps

I love DB...I love to take the train and get to see the countryside....(especially the modern windmills..)You will have no trouble getting a ticket there...I would take the slow train if it is cheaper...you get a more leisurely view of the countryside.. Hamburg is not far from Berlin--should only take a few hours... |

Yep...quite easy to get a train ticket on the day....theres a fast train called..ICE..........but if you fancy more train journeys get a 2,3,4, day saver card which allow travel for various lengths of time. Then you can travel to small towns/cities in between ya sightseeing. For Example....a ten day saver train card would cost you the same as a regular ticket from Hamburg to Munich(long journey) ...about 200 euro,s i think.
Deutche Bahn has details........... |

Hello!
I would recommend traveling 2nd class on the German rail system or Deutsche Bahn. Here is their website:
http://www.db.de/site/bahn/en/start.html
Notice that there is a red band under the photo which has a place which you can click for English. I cannot give you exact price or time info unless I know whether you qualify for a student discount and which day/time you wish to travel. I would think you would probably arrive within 4 - 5 hours if you take a faster train which makes few or no stops in between. If you are planning to travel in summer, it is always a good idea to buy your tickets ahead of time. Happy traveling!!! |

The cheapest way is hitching a ride through the internet.
www.mitfahrzentrale.de is the biggest website and I used it on some trips, even traveling to other countries. It is cheap, and I am sure there a plenty of rides between those two cities. |
