Are you prude? Yes to St. Pauli belongs the "dirtiest mile in the world". But you can find there a lot of good clubs and lot of other amusement belonging to the best of the world. You should visit Hamburg and St. Pauli of course.
But see yourself.

St. Pauli is infamous for the Reeperbahn and the many bars and nightclubs along it. It used to have a very special kind of charme and atmosphere, mostly because St. Pauli was and still is a district of Hamburg where the plain and simple people live. In St. Pauli you're free to be who you are without anybody judging you. Unfortunately, the Reeperbahn is now more or less one big brothel whithout that Pauli flair.

Another important street is the Große Freiheit with its many music joints where some of the most important bands in the history of music have played, such as the Beatles.

Oh and of course the FC St. Pauli, the local football club and its die-hard fans. They're both legendary in all of Germany.
