Rothenburg ob der Tauber --- This is a wonderful city that still has the middle age looks and feel to it. The wall is still surrounded by the wall and from far away, it looks like a city in a movie with knights and Kings... There is also the most BEAUTIFUL Christmas store that I have ever seen. It is open year around and is very LARGE.... This is a HEAVEN on EARTH for photographers to take city shots as well as portraits..... This is a MUST SEE city..

Heidenheim...I think that's how it's spelled! Lovely place with a great castle and amazing forests surrounding it....I had a great time in Wiessbaden also...it's just out side of Frankfurt.

Munich (MÃ¼nchen) is wonderful. Very beautiful, cultural, good food, and easy access to the countryside and other smaller cities via rail. For such a major city, the environment is surprisingly relaxing. I would definitely recommend a visit there.

Cologne (KÃ¶ln) and Heidelberg are very nice too.

Reutlingen b/c I lived there when I studied in Germany - it's such a great little town!
Stuttgart b/c it's the closest big city to where I was and I got to go to the opera there
Munich b/c the company I work for in the States is HQed in Munich...and Oktoberfest is amazing.
Hamburg b/c I got to see the clubs where the Beatles got their start (and some sex toy shops, lol!)
Lubeck b/c it's BEAUTIFUL!
Berlin b/c of all of the history - it's AMAZING!

Augsburg. It's only 45 minutes away from Munich. It has tons of history with Mozarts father living there and one of the oldest churches in Europe. They buildings are out of this world. They sell the best food, have tons of shopping, and during the night time bars and different types of discos open up. It's small, but you can learn a lot just by going there!

Overall for atmosphere, weather, and things to see in the city and especially in the surrounding areas of Southern Bavaria: Munich/MÃ¼nchen. If you're looking for nightlife or museums: Berlin. Historical/traditional towns: Heidelberg, Nuremberg/NÃ¼rnberg, Stuttgart, Rothenburg, Cologne/KÃ¶ln.

My Favorite cities in Germany are Augsburg and Munich.

Depends on what you like. Do you like city life, history, clubs, bars etc... Then I would say Berlin is a good place. I LOVE Berlin! But many Americans like the south. Munich, Augsburg, Heidelberg. Its smaller, there is more forest and landscape etc.
Hamburg is pretty cool, though. If you like the sea.
There is many really nice places in Germany. As I said, I like Berlin the most. The best you can do is take a round trip. Two or three weeks in Germany. Rent a car or go by train. Then travel from the south to the north, east to the west. My friend from Cali did, he said it was the best he can do.

I also would say Munich and surroundings. The people over there are very hospitable and seemed to be nicer in general. Also there is a ton of stuff to do. Overall Munich is a more romantic city with it's castles and atmosphere, parks, museums, arts, landscapes, etc.
Worked in Munich for 2 month and visitied several times!
