Depends on what you like. I usually pick up jewelry as a souvenir. I'm reminded when I wear it, and if people ask where I got it, I get to tell them where I went - great conversation starter.

Buy a chunk of the Berlin Wall. My friend's frined went to Germany for the World Cup and she seriously brought back a small piece of the Berlin Wall. Plus, you're in Germany so you have to buy a beer stein.

Don't bring back sausages. They will take those away at customs.

Hummels, Beer steins, chocolate, gummies, Birkenstocks, Bavarian China, Cuckoo clocks - it really depends on where you visit. If you visit the Black forest area, then definitely beer steins, cuckoo clocks, and china. I brought back salt from the Salt Mines in Luneburg and all kinds of other things. Berlin has amazing stuff - even those "chunks" of the Berlin wall. They're probably fake, but it is still pretty cool. Another thing I collected were the travel guide books from each city - it was really neat to look back at those! Most importantly - just get something that means Germany to you! We brought back chocolate, gummies, beer, salt, candy, sand from the Baltic Sea, postcards, books, Birkenstocks (Several pair - they're really cheap!) jewelry, china, beer steins, paintings - everything imaginable. Have fun - I loved Germany!

And why not a nice oldfashioned cuckoo clock??
Or a "Lederhosen" (kinda leather shorts) Sure a beer stein, but if you want6 a big one, don't forget: they are awfully heavy!!!!! (How much are you allowed on the plane? ;-))

John M
Hand-crafted cuckoo clocks that you can pass down for generations and get more valuable over time.

If you like sweets and "perishable" souvenirs, go for "Baumkuchen" or "Stollen"

Go to a country, soak in the atmosphere and then decide. The best souvenirs are things you see there which reminds you of the trip or the experience you made in this country. Not just nicknack's you get everywhere.

Guess Who
Hummel, and Gobel Figurines.

Mac
a big ol' beer stein!!!
I bought two when I was over there. The plain glass one, and a really cool special edition World Cup one for my dad, which isnt made out of glass, and its got that top to it too.
I think its ceramic and its kick ***!
Definately buy a beer stein! And the way to hold it is NOT with the handle, wrap your hand around the stein in the handle, but dont hold the handle itself. Just a lil tip I learned

PROST!!!
