The weather will be mixed. There may be rain, sunshine heat and warmth. Take clothes that leave you prepared for any weather.
And as long as you do not wear "I like Bush" or "I am American" or such on your t-shirt, no problems will arise. Besides, why don't you want people to see that you are american?

If you don't want to be recognized as american, you should avoid the following combination : blue jeans, white socks, white tennis shoes and long sweatshirt...;-)

Don't worry too much about being pegged as an American. That said, Germans do tend to favor darker, more subdued colors.

April weather can be very unpredictable-- number one thing to bring would be a rain jacket or umbrella!!

My recommendation: dark, 'basic' jeans or kakhis, a plain, nice-looking shirt, some sort of jacket or sweater (it can get chilly), and good walking shoes. How your feet look will decrease in importance the more you walk, and you will be doinga lot of walking & standing.

Basically, nothing too trendy or flashy-- just keep it basic and simple. Keep comfort in mind, too-- I'm serious about the shoes. If that means your white sneakers, so be it. Your feet will thank you.

(Another advantage to the darker colors for any traveler is that they tend to show dirt a lot less, too...)

In Germany they have an expression: 'April, April, es macht was es will'. Which translates to 'April, April, it does what it wants'. In my 12 years of living in Munich, this has always been true, especially last year - it was constantly raining, despite it being spring! (I'm am Australian/American, so I can understand your point of view). So unfortunately you've picked the most confusing month (to Munich locals too!) but I would advise to come prepared for anything. Of course, snow would be the most unlikely - don't expect freezing cold temperatures. But expect wet weather, and when the sun comes out, mildly warm temperatures. If your lucky you'll only need to wear a tshirt and long trousers outside when it's sunny.

just came from sttutgart 2 weeks ago and the weather was perfect, make sure to just take a light jacket, may be 2 long sleev shirts and the other stuff is summer clothing. and about uae, mostly they are all forigners there.

As for styles, Munich is like most other European cities where most anything fits in the norm. One thing about Europe though is that more than half the people like to dress in nice, well fitted clothes unlike many here in the USA. Bring some shoes that may be stylish but also comfortable if you are planning on seeing the city on foot. For dinner you don't want to go too casual (American suburban casual is WAY too casual there). Most Europeans dress appropriately for dinner. Being 30 I am sure you won't make the mistake many younger Americans make by wearing college sweatshirts, anything with Abercrombie and Fitch emblazoned across it and NY Yankees hats. The weather should be cool so bring a light jacket.

Don't worry. Germans dress a lot like americans do. Actually i would say they dress more like americans than any other country. Polo, Gap, etc are common in germany as well.

Just dont look like a tourist. No camera around your neck. No who-farted t-shirt, no fanny pack.

Germans wear more fitted clothing than americans do.

The weather is chaining right now from cold to warm. So i would bring one heavy jacket, and some sweaters. It may even be hot by then so check the weather before you leave.

Most of the others have told you that it is very much like New England in April, you might have a very lovely day and you might have a very chilly day. I will tell you that darker colors seem to be more in fashion. There are a few tips I will give you about not looking like an American. Europeans don't put their hands in their pockets, certainly it is ok to put some thing into your pocket but don't leave your hand in there Europeans don't do this Americans do. If you go into a place to eat or have some thing to drink and you are with a man let him go in first, this isn't being rude by him it is custom, it there is a fight going on inside he doesn't want you to get hurt he is making sure that it is alright for you to be in there. Once inside look around and if you see a odd shaped table in there it isn't for you, it is for the locals that live close by. Americans drink a beer very fast but when having a beer drink it slowly Americans drink to get drunk, but Europeans drink because they are thirsty, maybe some of my tips will help you

I would suggest you to have some sweater and jacket.I am 3....yr. old. I was born in Europe and just about 15 years in USA. The European stile is fashion, unfortunately not comfortable. Not a big verity of colors, probably good shoes - not snickers. The jacket must be lather or cashmere - no sweatshirts or sweatpants. Pretend like you going office with casual suet, expensive shoes and good accessories. I still remember from my past how hard to fill good when you are not comfortable, but it is Europe. One more thing, be prepare to walk a lot in any weather. All other, i think you will liked, new people, different life stile, everything is different around. You will have a good time. Good Luck

Scream American ??? You are having a laugh !! Munich is as cosmopolitan as NY if not more. You should be more concerned what to wear in the UAE's. You do not want to scream American there , but rather keep a low profile and consider your own safety.
