Well, Frankfurt has a couple of really great museums, the Senckenberg Museum, for example, which is all about fossils and dinosaur bones and stuff; the city also has a big zoo.

The old city centre has some buildings of historical importance. It also has scores of drug addicts.

There's an English language book store somewhere near the stock exchange - and somewhere there's a newsagent's that's selling English language magazines.

shopping:
I'm a guy, so I don't know anything about clothing. But I do know that there are some great stores for interior design in the city centre - for decorating rooms, and buying gifts etc.
one is called "Strauss Innovation" - it sells mostly old-fashioned looking stuff of the more British-Victorian style (like a cheap version of Laura Ashley or Martha Stewart)
the others are "Depot", "Butlers", and "CriCri".

outside the centre - on the Hanauer Landstrasse - there are two really great furniture/interior design stores - one is called "Yellow Möbel", and the other "Ikarus" - the latter is very expensive, but so much fun to walk through and look at stuff. Incidently, one of the few German Staples stores is on that same street - but they sell German stuff, of course, not American.

Don't buy any DVDs or VHS tapes - you know they won't work in the US.
But you could buy music CDs - if you think you will find something cheaper over here. The places with the best prices in Germany are Media Markt, Saturn, and Müller Drogerie [the latter sells CDs only in some of its stores, not in all]. Saturn has a store right in the city centre.

What part of Germany? That makes all the difference.

You'll have to do the touristy castle tour with King Ludwig's Castles, Octoberfest in Munich, Berlin, the wall, They're rebuilding the Kaiser's palace in Berlin, der Lindenstrasse in Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate, southern Germany and Lake Constance or die Boedensee where the Zeppelin museum is. You can fly in the modern Zeppelins around the lake or take a boat to Austria or Switzerland from there, I believe.

I LOVE germany. in particular, the bavarian alps. it is absolutely beautiful. I would go to Heidelberg, Munich and especially visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. i think it is in Fussen. it was built by king ludwig 2? and was the inspiration for the castle in the magic kingdom. i would go to smaller towns and visit castles and cathedrals. very beautiful.
