I agree with the chocolate. Some "Zartbitter" sort is the best, but we also have some really weird chocolate around, like "red chili sweet bitter chocolate". (The most famous company producing them, Zotter, unfortunately for us is from Austria, our southern friends.)
T-shirts with German car brand logos (BMW maybe? Opel is not so much liked nowadays, as they're facing bankrupcy along with GM. Or Ferrari; but they're Italian) or famous football (in Germany that means soccer) teams like Bayern München, HSV, Schalke 04, or Werder Bremen.
If you like army style, send your dad to a German army shop where they sell used stuff from the "Bundeswehr" (the German army), and get yourself an olive-green shirt with a German flag on the sleeve. Hell, imagine: That thing might have been to Afghanistan! (Which of course it wasn't, because they only sell old army stock; but you could tell your friends.) |

Set of 4 or 6 Egg Cups with 1 Egg Cutter (Eie Schneider) and same quantity of Egg Spoons (they are real small so they can fit inside the hole made by the egg cutter to eat a soft boiled egg).
I was an exchange student to Germany in 1979/1980 and in Germany we ate our soft-boiled eggs in egg cups and opened them up with this cute contraption called an egg cutter. It is still my favorite thing that I brought back from Germany over 30 years ago.
Also nice is a Stadt-teller or City Plate that has a sketch of the City/Town drawn on a nice decorative plate. You hang it on your wall or display it in your china cabinet.
Of course there are the classic German Beer Steins...called Seidel in german. |

Germans have some decent food, but it may spoil. Christmas items, teddy bears, or hand-painted eggs would be the coolest and most German things he could bring you. |
